Spencer Glacier - Snowmobile Day Tour
Experience one of the best guided snowmobile tours in Alaska on this unforgettable 5 to 5.5-hour adventure from Girdwood. You'll spend approximately 3 to 3.5 hours riding through the breathtaking winter landscapes of the Chugach National Forests, Placer Valley covering 22 to 26 miles round trip on scenic, snow-covered trails. To the breathtaking views of the blue ice of Spencer Glacier This tour is beginner and family friendly, making it one of the most popular winter activities near Anchorage. While the trails are easy to navigate, drivers must be comfortable operating a motorized vehicle and able to maintain control of their snowmobile at all times. Passengers are welcome; however, we recommend that anyone without previous riding experience refrain from taking a passenger as is does make the machine more difficult to maneuver. The maximum combined weight for two riders on one snowmobile is 350 pounds. What to Expect Your adventure begins by meeting your guides at 8:45 a.m. (or 12:25 p.m. for afternoon departures) at our designated meeting location in Girdwood. From there, we'll return to our office to complete a quick check-in, review waivers, and outfit you with premium winter gear, including: Snowmobile jacket and bibs Insulated boots DOT-approved helmet Winter Gloves Once everyone is geared up, we'll shuttle to the trailhead where your guide will provide a comprehensive safety briefing and riding instruction before heading into Alaska's backcountry. Ride through snow-covered forests, open meadows, and mountain terrain while taking in incredible views. Along the way, we'll stop for photos, warm up with hot cocoa, coffee, tea, and light snacks, and enjoy the peaceful beauty of Alaska in winter. You may even spot local wildlife, including moose, ptarmigan, bald eagles, and the infamous Ravens Spencer & Galileo ravens. While wildlife sightings are common, they are never guaranteed. Don't forget your camera—you'll want to capture every moment of this unforgettable Alaska snowmobile adventure. Seasonal Trail Conditions Our glacier route is operated under permits from the U.S. Forest Service. If glacier access is closed due to weather, snow conditions, or Forest Service restrictions, we highly recommend our Turnagain Pass Ultimate Backcountry Snowmobile Adventure, an equally spectacular experience featuring deep snow, expansive mountain views, and incredible riding terrain.
